Splunk Inc. announced today an update to its Splunk Cloud Service, an “operational Intelligence” tool that uses a Web interface for machine-generated Big Data on Amazon Web Services Inc.’s (AWS) cloud.
Available in 10 Amazon regions worldwide, the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering provides all the capabilities of the company’s Splunk Enterprise edition, which was also updated with many new features.
The company released a statement today stating that “new features in both platforms include enhanced Big Data analysis, improved query performance and management improvements,” “Additionally, cloud analytics apps for Akamai Content Delivery Network, Amazon Web Services, and ServiceNow are now available.”
The Splunk App is used to extract critical operational and security insight from AWS accounts. The company announced the AWS service one year ago, stating that the app provides a pre-built knowledgebase of dashboards to provide real-time visibility into your environment using data AWS CloudTrail Config and Billing. Splunk stated that it helps customers manage AWS environments in a secure, efficient and cost-efficient manner.
Splunk Cloud’s enhanced analytics result in improved predictive capabilities. This allows enterprises to forecast trends and predict missing values in data sets more accurately, Splunk Cloud said. The Splunkbase visualization library now offers a new developer framework that allows users to create new visualizations and customize existing ones.
Splunk’s management console features new views that give greater visibility into Splunk’s event collection and health. Security is also enhanced by “additional support Web single sign-on (OKTA, Azure Active Directory, and Active Directory Federation Services, ADFS).”
Splunk Cloud comes with a 100 percent uptime service level agreement (SLA). It can scale to more 10 TB per hour, according to the product’s Web page. The Splunk Cloud is available as a free trial with regular monthly pricing levels starting at $810 and ending at $2,070.
